Powertrain and Performance

Both the Silverado EV and the Silverado 1500 have several powertrain options. The Silverado EV has a dual-motor four-wheel drive powertrain that pairs with either an Extended Range or a Max Range battery. The base configuration provides up to 645 horsepower with Wide Open Watts and a towing capacity of 12,500 pounds. The Max Range battery boosts the power output up to 760 horsepower and 785 pound-feet of torque.

The Silverado 1500 comes standard with a 310-horsepower TurboMax engine and rear-wheel drive, a configuration that provides a towing capacity of up to 9,500 pounds. Two V8 engines and available four-wheel drive allow you to customize the truck for off-roading. A turbo-diesel inline-6 engine with up to 495 pound-feet of torque is also available and provides a towing capacity of up to 13,300 pounds.

Fuel Economy and Range

While both trucks can take you far on a full battery or tank, the EV is more fuel-efficient than the 1500. Depending on the configuration, the Silverado EV delivers EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings of 77 MPGe in the city and 63 MPGe on the highway. The Extended Range battery provides an estimated range of 408 miles per charge, while the Max Range battery can take you up to 460 miles on a full charge.

In the base configuration with a rear-wheel drivetrain, the Silverado 1500 has EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings of 18 MPG in the city and 23 MPG on the highway. With a tank of 24 gallons, this translates to a driving range of about 456 miles. The turbo-diesel engine provides fuel economy ratings of up to 26 MPG combined and an estimated range of 624 miles on a full tank.

Configurations and Utility

Offered in a single configuration with a spacious crew cab and a 5’11” bed, the Sierra EV is a great choice for daily driving and outdoor adventures. The standard Multi-Flex tailgate can be locked in various positions to accommodate long cargo, while a Multi-Flex midgate is available, allowing you to expand the bed to fit items over ten feet long.

The Silverado 1500 is available in three cab styles with seats for three to five riders. Depending on the cab, you can also choose between a short, standard, or long bed with sizes varying between 69.92 and 98.18 inches. This truck has a maximum payload capacity of 2,260 pounds, depending on the configuration and trim, while the Silverado EV has a maximum payload capacity of 1,800 pounds.
